AAUW's Guide to Adding RSS Feeds to Facebook

Hootsuite is a social media management tool that allows you to stream RSS feeds from the AAUW national website directly to your Facebook pages. This way you can automatically post ready-made content directly to your Facebook on a daily basis without having to worry about crafting the posts yourself.

If you're ready to take advantage of this easy way to keep your branch or state Facebook page updated with AAUW content, follow these steps.

1. Sign up for a Hootsuite account.

Go to www.hootsuite.com and click the Sign Up button in the top right corner.

2. Select the free version.

Click the Get Started Now button in the Free column. The free version of Hootsuite will give you all of the capabilities you need to add AAUW RSS feeds to your Facebook page.

Note: If you are asked to pay for anything or insert your credit card information, you have chosen the wrong option.

3. Add account information.

After you click Get Started Now, you will need to add your account information. Enter your e-mail address, full name, and time zone and create a password. Then click Create Account.

4. Link Hootsuite to your Facebook page.

In the "add your social networks" section, press the Facebook button. A screen will pop up that leads to your Facebook account login page. Log in to your personal Facebook account.

5. Select your AAUW branch Facebook page.

Logging in to Facebook will bring up a list of the pages associated with your account. Select your AAUW branch page. Once you see a green check mark next to both your Facebook account and AAUW branch Facebook page, select the Finished Importing button.

Next, press the Continue button. Then click "done adding social networks."

Note: Hootsuite will also ask you if you would like to sign up for Hootsuite Pro. Ignore that option; it is a paid feature.

6. Go to the RSS/Atom Feed tab in Hootsuite.

Navigate to the Settings tab in the Hootsuite menu (click on the gear icon on your left, the third icon from the bottom). Hover over the settings icon and click the RSS/Atom Feed tab.

7: Insert AAUW links.

After clicking the plus sign under the heading that reads RSS/Atom Feeds, you will see the screen below:

In the Feed URL box, insert the following link to the AAUW national website:
https://ww3.aauw.org/feed/?post_type=article,post

Next, click the social network where you would like to stream the feed. In this case it will be Facebook. Then, press the Save Feed button.

8. Admire your work.

After completing these steps, you will see the feeds in the RSS/Atom Feeds box. As an AAUW leader, you have many responsibilities. AAUW recognizes all the hard work you put in as a volunteer. We want to make your job easier, and the new resources section is designed to do just that.

Note: If you would like to stop receiving feeds from a particular feed source, you can switch the feed off or on by clicking the tab on the far left. You can also remove the feed by pressing the trash can icon.
